Error: Sound Recorder cannot record...(due to statement remarked out).
Error:
Sound Recorder cannot record or play back because a sound device is not installed. To install a device, click 'Add New Hardware' in 'Control Panel'.
Cause:
The statement in SYSTEM.INI which loads the driver was removed. A statement may be removed by preceding it with a semi-colon or an 'REM'.
Solution:
Edit System.ini and remove the semi-colon or REM from the front of the driver= statement in the [boot] section.
1) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu.
2) Select 'Find' and select 'Files or Folders...'. (The 'Find: All Files' dialog box appears.)
3) Type the following in the 'Named' box:
SYSTEM.INI
4) Make sure the root directory appears in the 'Look-in' drop-down list box.
5) Select the 'Include subfolders' check box.
6) Click 'Find now'.
7) Double-click the file in the results window to open it in 'Notepad'.
8) Locate the [boot] section.
NOTE: The [boot] section should be the first section of System.ini.
9) If the entry has a semicolon ';' or 'REM' at the beginning, remove the semicolon or 'REM' from in front of the statement: driver=MMSYSTEM.DLL
10) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Save' to save the System.ini file.
11) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Exit' to close Notepad.
12) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu.
13) Select 'Shut Down...'. (The 'Shut Down Windows' dialog box appears.)
14) Select the 'Restart the computer' radio button and click 'Yes' to have the change take effect.
